Waitangi day is held on the 6th of February which is a public holiday ever since 1974.But the treaty itself was signed by 500 Maori chiefs ever since 1840 but they also signed 9 more treaty's as well. there are 3 articles that are in different languages.
The word Waitangi means water tears.
